Framing Assignment - Sea World Ends Orca Shows

From thedodo.com, an animal rights activist site.
"SeaWorld Ending Its Old Orca Show... And Starting A New One"
This article included two photos from credited to Shutterstock of Orcas in "action" at SeaWorld in San Diego, California. The article was framed to be a sort of bash on SeaWorld right from the title, and continued on throughout the piece. The author talked about how SeaWorld's old Orca performance show is being cancelled sometime in 2016, however SeaWorld plans to open a new and more "natural" way of viewing the animals. Basically just moving them into an aquarium where people can see them in a more "natural" way. The article framed its arguments by saying that SeaWorld isn't helping the Orcas at all, they are merely just moving them into a different tank.

From theguardian.com
"SeaWorld to end killer whale shows in wake of mourning protests"
Images from this article include two Orca Whales in action during a show, an advertisement for SeaWorld, and a short video clip from the 2013 video documentary "Blackfish." This article is framed in a much more informative or news-worthy sense, less opinionated. The article does talk about the change of the theatrical whale show into an "all new Orca experience focused on the natural environment [of the whales]". This article includes statistics regarding the sales decline into the park, and talks about legislation issues that have been presented to SeaWorld. This article was framed to be informative, precise, and easy to read.

From Slate.com
"Bad News, Animal Lovers: Sea World Isn't Really Ending Its Killer Whale Show"
Right from the title this article is framed in a similar fashion to the one from thedodo.com, it's unfavorable towards SeaWorld. It begins with a photo captioned "still not free" referring to the Orca Whales, who are not escaping from their captivity any time soon. The beginning of the article emphasizes that SeaWorld is not ending the theatrical show from the goodness of their hearts, but form a decline in sales and in order to gain back those sales they are planning to open a new and more natural experience to see the whales by 2017. The article references the documentary "Blackfish" about the ill-treatment of the whales, and has since then been making attempts to lighten their public image. This article was more informative than the first one I read from thedodo.com, but also more opinionated than the one from theguardian.com, I would say this one was framed with good balance: enough opinion, facts, and information to make a good piece.
